As a nation, at no point have we been short of brilliant and patriotic individuals, totally committed to and in positions to making us great. So it comes as little surprise that Professor Yemi Osinbajo has risen through to the corridors that control the affairs of our nation. What is different is the way he is going about this sacred duty. It is a fair assessment to say that in about two years he has outperformed his predecessors in the comprehension and performance of duties.
For a nation to recover its soul, it must (first) find its voice. Professor Osinbajo has brought pomp and newness into our polity. His carriage, aura and humility are notable to all. He has always used the right rhetoric that shows sensitivity to the plight of the Nigerian citizen, and when addressing the political class his speech has been graceful, seasoned with salt. His is the voice of political leadership. This is clearly a deviation from the reckless utterances of the contemporary Nigerian politician.
Yes, rhetoric will not solve our problems completely, but as a father keeps hope burning by assuring his children that all will be well, he waters our/the ever cultivated hope, with soothing words, assuring a fruitful harvest. In his words we have to “daily pre-occupy ourselves with pursuing the Nigerian dream- which is the desire to better our lives and circumstances vigorously and honestly”.
Wherever he has gone from the streets of Birnin kebbi, through interacting with participants at the various MSMEs clinics, the Niger Delta interactive Engagement in Yenagoa, Delta, Rivers etc. and meeting with traders at the Garki market, he has rubbed off on them the magical effect of hope, of what we can achieve with visionary leadership.

He transcends politics and extols governance, being the emissary of the Buhari administration within party lines and on opposition grounds on official assignments. Such is the trust president Buhari has in him.
In his capacity as Ag President, his strides has been celebrated all over the country and even when this unsettled certain quarters yielding contempt, he has displayed calmness, maturity, wisdom and the effectiveness to go about the job that needs to be done.
His awareness has brought in the necessary sharpness to shapen the very blunt edges of our governance institutions. A professor, a SAN, not new to administration, he has shown his deep understanding of governance and its tools with his recent issuance(as Ag president) of executive orders to foster growth of our business sector. Did it really take till 2017 for a Nigerian president to issue executive orders?

He is the example for those who dream of a better Nigeria, that the race has to be actually be run. If you are paying attention, you would know that he is an all-rounder committed to making Nigeria better than he met it.

His caution to controversial issues has however been read as complacency, whether he is being limited by political capital or is playing to the gallery is quite uncertain. While he has acknowledged the charges of marginalization, there has been marginal rather than deep retrospection that can provide tangible solutions to our challenges.
In the case of the Niger Delta region, government has not backed up talk with action by providing the necessary legal instruments to back up developmental initiatives, as is the case across Nigeria. Of course this is not a call to demand speedy short term, irrational solutions but an eternal reminder that necessity must be done to put this country on the right path.

In all we can say that he is laying foundations, propagating the real seeds of change that will eventually blossom into the better Nigeria of our dreams. But this seeds must also yield human fruits that will continue the onerous task of building this better Nigeria. For now, we are heading in the right direction, prof. Osinbajo is just one among many pointers to that. The future is just about here.
